I made a decision in about two minutes and hit the call button on the tablet at the computer, then I waited...and waited...and waited. Another ten or so minutes passed when my server walked past me to take the order of the table behind me without so much as an I'll be with you in a moment. Then after their order was taken she walked past again, tablet light flashing and all, without a word. Another several minutes passed before she finally came to take my order, I canceled everything, paid for my drink, and promptly left.
I can count on one hand how many times I've left a restaurant on account of service. This was flat out inexcusable. Our server needs to find herself a new line of work because if thats how she operates all the time I can't imagine she's going to be getting many tips. I also don't write many reviews, ironically it's taken less time to write this than it did to get my drinks. Won't spend another dollar at this place. Two stars is for the food, if you can actually ever get it. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice...

Today was more of the same kind of service. I went in with my family at around 4:30 p.m. There were less than fifteen customers in the restaurant. We were seated and about five minutes later our server took our drink order. Nearly ten minutes passed before our drinks and chips came out.
I really like Abuelos. I wish they could find their groove again though. Between food that sits too long under a heat lamp, or checked tenders that are over fried it gets more difficult to consider them frequently. Still, their salsa choices are nice, and for the most part the food seems fresh and home cooked instead of microwaved. Hanging onto 4 stars.... But just barely.
My wife placed her order, and after hearing our waitress tell another customer something about the toppings for the fajitas I asked if they still come with unlimited toppings. I got a flat "no" and several seconds later " they changed the menu on Tuesday" like I was somehow supposed to know that. I asked how much additional toppings would be and was told "however much they are a la carte" which was as helpful as it sounds. I asked for another minute to decide on something new, as I don't feel a sixteen dollar entree should have any additional cost.
We love the food here but the service is just awful. Last year we were totally forgotten about and waited an hour before checking with the hostess who clearly skipped us as I saw our name scratched out and had been standing next to the booth so it would have been impossible to miss our name.
